Tuesday, January 17, 2006

Today the news agency Peyamner reported that famous Egyptian
director Ali Bedirkhan (Bedirxan) arrived at the seat and capital of
the Kurdish government, Hewler. On Hewler international airport
he was received by a delegate of the KRG (Kurdistan Regional

He announced that the Ministery of Culture will finance the movie.
And it will be a production by Egypt and Hollywood.

The world famous Egyptian actor Omar Shariff will play a major
role in the movie. Perhaps as the Kurdish leader himself, but this
    is not sure.

Ali Bedirkhan said the aim of the movie is to make Kurdish “hero” Barzani known to the world and to
show the suffering of the Kurdish people. The movie will be made in Kurdistan.

”Barzani did something for the Kurds that nobody can deny. And this is the reason, that he must be
seen as a hero in the movie and in reality,” said the film-maker enthusiastically.

According to Peyamner the director is Kurdish and he said to the press: "Es Kurdem û es jî Kurdî
dezanem." (I am a Kurd and I can also speak Kurdish.)

Mustafa Barzani played a very important role in Kurdish history and was a source of inspiration for the
Kurds in Greater Kurdistan. Short information about this Kurdish leader and former leader of the KDP
can be found here. The son of Mustafa Barzani; Massoud Barzani is the current president of South-
Kurdistan and leader of the KDP.
